When an idea knocks on my door, I slowly open and ask for ID. Not all of them are allowed to walk in, for many are silly, aesthetically inadequate and derivative. Years ago, I let some in, for reasons that were plainly wrong, such as pleasing somebody by trying to fit their taste, and to this day, this recollection is still unpleasant. Once worthiness test is passed, I begin to ask questions: will this be an enjoyable process? Might the result justify the effort? Do I have enough Titanium white to make this happen?

To use a very sensible and honest nomenclature style of Sei Shonagon, beautiful things are: bones, red, medieval armors and weapons, chrysanthemums and stones; dull things are: flowers, (with a few exceptions) animals, random geometric shapes. This being said, bulls and horses are mostly ok.

I like large formats. The more inconvenient it is to transport the item, the more it feels like a success. My door dimensions pretty much set the limits.

Most of my works don’t fit within a single uniform process.  Each of them has its own personal story and reason to be. I do not pursue a specific theme; however the colors palette tends to gravitate around a few favorites. Sometimes I rebel against the self-inflicted color despotism and try something very different. It doesn’t give as much satisfaction as I would think it would, so I go back to what feels right.
